It's no surprise that we learn faster and retain more when we're having fun. Interactivity and practical hands-on experience can make a classroom light up with excitement. This is something I learned firsthand as a Training Coordinator here at Crutchfield. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited about all the sweet new functionality DJI Education has built into the RoboMaster Tello Talent.
The RoboMaster TT is an update to the popular Tello EDU, with the cool addition of a programmable LED light and dot-matrix screen. It's pretty awesome watching a drone act out a string of movement and light commands you've successfully programmed. It's even cooler to watch a formation of drones play out a coordinated dance in a literal swarm. This powerful educational drone makes coding simple and accessible to help students of all ages dive headfirst into the world of drone and AI programming.
To expand on the original EDU's accessibility, the RoboMaster TT comes with a controller with a built-in ESP32 chip and modular extension board. This means you can work a range of third-party sensors into your lesson plans. It even provides a power supply for these extended accessories. The open-source RoboMaster SDK (software development kit) is based on Python 3.0 and supports Arduino, MicroPython, Scratch, graphical programming, and other methods.
There's a ton of room for your learners to creatively expand and grow their knowledge. With plenty of coding options and the ability to experiment with a variety of sensor types, they can dream up all sorts of new drone applications.
A set of colorful mission pads are included in the box. The RoboMaster TT can recognize the unique patterns on these missions pads, letting you design custom actions that are activated when the drone passes over the corresponding pad.
Built-in collision detection helps prevent crashes while your students are still learning. A low battery indicator reminds them when it's time to land, and a fail-safe will kick in if the drone loses connection. Propeller guards are included in the box to protect their fingers and faces too.
DJI Education supports the RoboMaster TT with a diverse rules library for AI competitions, from landing courses and randomized mazes to air-to-ground operations alongside other unmanned vehicles like the RoboMaster S1. Each competition is designed to encourage collaboration, problem solving, and critical thinking. Drone and AI education will become more important as time goes on, and gamification can help your students dig into the content.
