This item allows photography with Nikon digital cameras and the great line of Nikon Sky & Earth spotting scopes.  It is used in conjunction with an eyepiece, and if you intend to use this with a zoom eyepiece you must also purchase the #6925 S-Zoom Attachment Ring.

You first attach the eyepiece into the spotting scope, then attach the SSA-1 ring to the eyepiece's body cap socket.  The eyepiece's eyecup must be folded down. Next, screw the camera-specific attachment ring into the camera's accessory threads.

If you are using the #7673 or #7674 fixed-magnification eyepieces, you will then screw the SSA-2 directly into the camera's attachment ring.  If you are using the #7675 zoom eyepiece, the #6925 S-Zoom Attachment Ring will go between the eyepiece and the SSA-2 ring.

Finally, mount the SSA-2 to the SSA-1 by tightening the set screw.  After powering up the digital camera, you will likely need to adjust the camera within the eyepiece by loosening the set screw upon the SSA-2 and then rotating the camera until you are satisfied with the image.

All ventures in the world of digiscoping require the use of a sturdy tripod, first and foremost.  You must take great care to keep vibrations during exposure to an absolute minimum.  Employing a cable release, electronic release or remote control for tripping the shutter is absolutely necessary.  And while it is not necessary per se, the #6926 Universal Mounting Bracket will do wonders to reduce vibrations of your rig.
